It's Time to Dump the Trump

Disclaimer: The following article is representative of its author's views, but not Christian Academy itself.

“Hillary Clinton was the worst secretary of State in the history of the United States," -Business Insider

“What a waste of time being interviewed by Anderson Cooper!" -Twitter

“Why does a failed magazine like Forbes constantly seek out trivial nonsense? Their circulation is way down." -Twitter

"I hope the boycott of Macy's continues forever. So many people are cutting up their cards. Macy's stores suck and they are bad for U.S.A." -Twitter

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” -Candidate’s Campaign Launch

What do all of these quotes have in common? Yes, they sound like they were said by a hormonal teenager who is bothered by almost everything, but surprisingly, they were not. Now, who said this, you might ask? Yes, it is none other than Donald Trump. These are just a few of the countless quotes Trump has said in the past and recently. Why do we even engage this type of talk? We used to listen to what Trump said solely because of his extreme wealth, but now as Trump attempts to extend his power, the game has changed. As most already know, Donald Trump is running for president as a candidate of the Republican Party in the coming election. Trump targets immigrants to minorities to magazine publications to women in general with his ridiculously brash insults. For example, he offensively referred to Carly Fiorina’s “ugly face,” disregarding any of her intelligence. Trump’s comments about celebrities also show that his disrespect spans much further than just his running-mates. Trump has owned up to being inappropriate in many instances, like when he said that Cher has no talent, but he still refuses to change his ways. Trump is successful as a businessman, but do we really want someone who has no filter as our president—someone who does not show respect to people that are different from him? Do we really want America to become a place where only a select few think they belong, or do we want to continue the ideals behind the "land of the free"? Only time will tell.
