Cedar Point Catastrophe
Special-education teacher, James A. Young II, paid the utmost price of admission to Ohio-based theme park, Cedar Point, just a few weeks ago: his life. Young, 45, reportedly scaled a restricted fence and searched the area for his lost cellphone and wallet, when the popular ride Raptor struck him at 57 miles per hour, killing him instantly. Officials quickly shut the ride down and sought to aid Young, but sadly his life had already been taken. Young’s visited with friends and family, an end of the year tradition, when they witnessed the tragedy first-hand. Senior, Joel S., recalls his recent trip to the amusement park, “I think it's weird that I had ridden that ride three times in a row the weekend before that guy died.” According to CNN, Young had just acquired his dream job as a high school guidance counselor, and was about to start his new position in just a few weeks. Cedar Point tweeted out just hours after the accident, “At 5pm, a guest entered a restricted area of Raptor and was struck by the ride. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.” Raptor has been closed for the rest of the season; however, Cedar Point will remain open.
