Senior Retreat
Fun and fellowship accompanied seniors this year as they went on their final retreat. Four buses packed-full of students left CAL in the sunrise Thursday morning and set out for the campground. Building new relationships was strongly emphasized throughout the retreat as students were split into random groups and encouraged to build friendships with them through team building activities. On his experience at the retreat, senior Will Fraser stated, “I think the retreat was a very good way for me to meet and connect with classmates I had never met before.” Zip lines and a two-story tall climbing tower brought an adrenaline rush to the party, as students challenged themselves to overcome their fears. As the day came to an end, students congregated for heartfelt worship and an emotional sermon from Southeast Christian Church youth minister, Matt Reagan, impacting and challenging every one of them. After the sermon, students met again for a bonfire, as the sun finally fell over the campground. God was clearly evident, as students bravely shared their hardships and feelings around the fire one-by-one. The seniors no longer felt like a bunch of different cliques, but as one group of young men and women joined together by Christ and friendship.
