Five Video Games You Need To Pre-Order
The time has come, gamers. Those announcements and first-looks you drooled over at E3 are just about to be on your hard drive in a mere two months. The teasers you watched over and over, leaving you itching to experience it hands-on, will no longer toy with your emotions as you finally grip your controller and find out for yourself just how enjoyable it really is. Prepare to dig deep in your wallet this year, as today's games have practically reached their utmost potential in graphical enhancements; all you need now is a story so captivating, it's knocks your socks off. According to beta testers and critical reviews, that's what's in store. All of the titles are sequels or spinoffs, so I would recommend getting familiar with the previous games’ stories before pre-ordering.
Note: Most of the games on this list are expected to be rated Mature, so, if you're under 17, confirm with your parents before pre-ordering.
5. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
Release Date: 11/06/15
Developer(s): Treyarch
Expected Rating: M
Looking back at previous Call of Duty titles, I hope the developers can blow us away again because the last two were just stale. Ghosts, bringing a terribly lackluster story and awful game mechanics, made most gamers embarrassed they bought they bought the Deluxe Edition. It wasn't all bad though, the Extinction game mode had a lot to offer but was just too hard to be enjoyable. Experienced players were hard to find because no one could get past the third hive. Advanced Warfare without a doubt had one of the best campaigns of any Call of Duty with its well-written characters and plot, but sadly, the multiplayer just left a bad taste in gamers mouths. The introduction of exo-suits meant players could run up walls and jetpack across the map, which forced players to completely change how they encountered their opponent. Exo Zombies was a poor knock-off of the once great game mode of past titles. Don't lose hope, reader. After playing the Black Ops 3 multiplayer beta a few weeks ago, the weapon mechanics were flawless, and the new class system brought much needed freshness to the party. Also, Treyarch announced Zombies mode being larger than ever before and the campaign will introduce new characters and twists that will be sure to keep you on edge.
4. Halo 5: Guardians
Release Date: 10/27/15
Developers(s): 343 Industries
Expected Rating: M
It's been three years since we heard from protagonist Master Chief, world’s greatest hero. Who can't wait to finally unfold the mysteries that surround him and his gang? With Halo 4 having brought so much to the table, I can't wait to see what's in store for the next installment.
3. Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate
Release Date: 10/23/15
Developer(s): Ubisoft
Expected Rating: M
With the release of Assassin’s Creed: Unity last year, we saw how in-depth Ubisoft will go in programming their games. Unity took place in a beautiful Renaissance-era Paris, and the extremely detailed setting increased added power to the heart-breaking story. This year’s installment however, takes place in late-1800’s London following the story of a man brought up from the slums to be the protagonist the struggling community needs. Look forward to even more graphical enhancements and another campaign filled with deception and twists. Sadly, Unity contained one of the largest glitches ever needing to be patched, due to overworked programmers. Hopefully this won't happen again, as I'm very excited to play this.
2. Fallout 4
Release Date: 11/10/2015
Developer(s): Bethesda
Expected Rating: M
The award-winning, post-apocalyptic RPG millions have waited for since Fallout 3 has arrived. Unlike its predecessor, the fourth installment will start out in a not-far-future Boston on the verge of nuclear devastation. Sadly, the bombs do drop, and those fortunate enough make their way to vaults designed especially for this scenario. There your created protagonist starts and lives his life until the day the vault it opened and he/she journeys out into the wasteland. Our story unfolds in an open sandbox where the player makes practically all the options. Will you fight for what's left of morals or will you follow darkness and be feared throughout the desolate ruins? Bethesda has tried extremely hard not to leak too much story information, but according to trailers and teasers, the game will feature the utmost level of customization and freedom as you design your character’s weapons, armor, and even home. Expect a Game of the Year award for this title.
1. Star Wars: Battlefront
Release Date: 11/17/2015
Developer(s): EA, DICE
Expected Rating: T
That's right. It's finally coming. Definitely the longest-awaited sequel to any game on this list by about nine years, the boys who developed the game engines for the Battlefield series, DICE, have taken the initiative to bring one of the most-loved Star Wars games into this generation. This one actually brings back some memories. I can remember playing the original on a worn down, original Xbox with my older brother, Sam, for countless hours (Capture the Flag on Tatooine, to be exact). Some aspects of the game were leaked and it came under scrutiny. Many gamers bickered about rumors that had surfaced: “There's no Campaign! What about offline players?!” “There's only four maps! The sequel nine years ago had three times that!” “Are you serious!? No droids and clones?!” I will admit I did become a little doubtful after hearing the rumors, but after watching the trailers, I really don't care if it's just Hoth and you had to use sticks for lightsabers. Just watching Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader clash sabers gave me goosebumps, not to mention the hours spent on graphical realism were clearly present. It’s hard not to have a biased rating when you've waited your whole life for this.
