Kyle Kuric's Surgery
Louisville fans have been hit with another disappointment as CB Gran Canaria and former University of Louisville basketball player, Kyle Kuric, went into a hospital in Barcelona with a migraine only to find out that he had meningioma, a tumor that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. After graduating from U of L in 2012, where he led his team to a Final Four and set the stage for the 2013 championship, Kuric signed to play basketball in Spain, where he has spent the last three years as a leading guard. We remember Kuric for his three-point corner shot that could change the tides of any game, and also for being "one of the finest young men that I have had the privilege to coach," according to U of L basketball coach, Rick Pitino, who coached him during his four seasons at the university. CAL senior, Chris C., remarked: "As a huge U of L fan, I remember watching him shoot threes and game winners a few years ago. I hope he gets better and is able to return to what he loves." Kuric's surgery to remove the tumor took place Thursday, November 5 in Barcelona, according to his coach. It had seemed the surgery had gone well, until swelling in his cranium caused Kuric to have to be placed in intensive care and on a ventilator; he remains in critical condition. Kuric has received hundreds of letters in support for his struggle, and before being placed on the ventilator, he expressed that he greatly appreciates the love and kind words he has received in this time of uncertainty. Fans wishing to send cards or notes of support can send them to the address below, and they will be forwarded to Kyle:
